  • To apply for the CGPSC Civil Judge 2025, candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognized university and be enrolled as advocates under the Advocates Act, 1961.
  • The age limit is set between 21 to 35 years as of January 1, 2025, with relaxations available for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories.
  • Additionally, candidates seeking reservation benefits must provide a valid domicile certificate.

CGPSC Civil Judge Selection Process 2025

The CGPSC Civil Judge selection process will be based on a 3 stages  comprising the following:

Prelims Exam

The Preliminary Examination for the CGPSC Civil Judge Recruitment is a screening test of 100 marks. It includes 100 objective-type questions, each with four options, and candidates must select the correct one. The exam duration is 2 hours, and questions are based on laws like the Constitution of India, Transfer of Property Act, and General Knowledge of Chhattisgarh. Conducted in both Hindi and English, candidates 10 times the number of vacancies will qualify for the Mains, ensuring a fair selection process.

Mains Exam

The Main Examination is a written test of 100 marks for shortlisted candidates in the ratio of 1:10 from the Prelims. It includes tasks such as framing issues and judgments in civil and criminal cases (40 marks each) and translation between Hindi and English (10 marks each). The exam duration is 3 hours and assesses the candidates’ analytical and legal drafting skills crucial for the role of a Civil Judge.

Viva-Voce

The Viva-Voce is the final stage, carrying a weightage of 15 marks. Candidates three times the number of vacancies are shortlisted from the Mains based on merit. Unreserved category candidates must score at least 33%, while reserved categories require a minimum of 25%. Performance in this stage, combined with Mains scores, determines the final merit list, making it a critical step in the selection process.
