Madras High Court PA Syllabus for Written Examination

The written examination is the first stage of the Madras High Court PA Selection Process. The Madras High Court has not released a specific syllabus for either the Skill Test or the Oral Test. The exam pattern for the Skill Test stage of the Madras High Court PA Selection Process is as follows:

• The total marks that can be secured is 100.
• The qualifying marks are 38.5.
• Full mistakes get a negative marking of 1 mark.
• Half mistakes get negative marking of 0.5 marks.
• The skill test consists of a shorthand test in English, and for those applying for PA to Registrars and Personal Clerks a shorthand test in Tamil.

Full mistakes refer to:

• Wrong transcription of a word or words.
• Omission of words other than articles. However, continuous omission, articles will be treated as individual words.
• Commission of words.
• Wrong spellings which convey different meanings from the one dictated.

Half mistakes refer to:

• Spelling Mistakes
• Interchange of articles
• Singular or Plural mistakes
• Omission of a full stop
• Placement of a full stop in unwanted places
• Misplaced capital letters
• Tense mistakes
• Omission of articles, addition of articles or inter-change of articles.

Exam Pattern of Oral Test

• The maximum marks for the oral test are 15.
• The qualifying marks are 6.
• Candidates are assessed based on suitability, language skills, vocabulary, mental alertness, skills, attitude, ethics, character, grasping power, expertise in computer skills etc.
• The candidate’s outstanding and meritorious record in Sports, Athletics, NCC, NSS, ACC, Scouts and Guides and Literary activities of the candidates besides his/her general physique, aptitude, flair for expression, grasp of General Knowledge etc. is also considered.
