Given:

10 chairs and 5 tables were purchased for Rs. 17,500.

Calculation:

Let the average cost of a table be x. 

10 chairs cost = 10 x 1000 = Rs. 10,000

5 tables cost = 5x

Total cost = 10,000 + 5x = 17,500

Subtracting 10,000 from both sides, we get:

5x = 7,500

x = 1,500

Therefore, the average cost of a table is Rs. 1,500.
