Download Solution PDFA fruit seller had some oranges. He sells 40% oranges and still has 420 oranges. How many oranges he had originally?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Seller sold 40% of the oranges and has 420 oranges remaining.
Formula used:
Remaining oranges = 100% - 40% = 60% of total oranges
Let the total number of oranges be: x
Calculation:
60% of x = 420
⇒ (60 ÷ 100) × x = 420
⇒ (3 ÷ 5) × x = 420
⇒ x = 420 × (5 ÷ 3)
⇒ x = 700
∴ He originally had 700 oranges.
