Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Sale for 5 consecutive months: Rs. 6,927, Rs. 6,855, Rs. 7,230, Rs. 6,435, and Rs. 6,562
Average sale required for 6 months: Rs. 6,500
Formula Used:
Average sale = Total sale / Number of months
Calculation:
Let the sale in the sixth month be x.
Total sale for 5 months = 6927 + 6855 + 7230 + 6435 + 6562
Total sale for 5 months = 34009
Total sale for 6 months = 34009 + x
Average sale for 6 months = 6500
⇒ (34009 + x) / 6 = 6500
⇒ 34009 + x = 6500 × 6
⇒ 34009 + x = 39000
⇒ x = 39000 - 34009
⇒ x = 4991
The sale in the sixth month must be Rs. 4,991.
