Given:

Amount after 3 years = Rs 815.

Amount after 4 years = Rs 854.

Formula Used:

Simple Interest (SI) = Principal (P) × Rate (R) × Time (T)

Amount (A) = Principal (P) + Simple Interest (SI)

Calculation:

Interest for 1 year = Rs 854 - Rs 815 = Rs 39

Interest for 3 years = 39 × 3 = Rs 117

Principal (P) = Rs 815 - Rs 117

Principal (P) = Rs 698

The sum invested is Rs 698.
