Gender discrimination in a classroom-

Gender is a social construct. It refers to the socially and culturally constructed system that attributes meaning to what it means to be a male or a female in a particular society. A society comprises males and females. 

• Gender inequality, gender biases, gender stereotypes are the common ill practices in a society.
• Gender discrimination should not be encouraged in a classroom.

According to NCF-2005 

• Unequal gender relations not only perpetuate domination but also create anxieties and stunt the freedom of both boys and girls to develop their human capacities to their fullest.
• Gender discrimination will have an adverse effect on the performance and achievement of students. 
• As it is perceived that only boys can perform well in maths, science, and sports (gender roles) and girls only in artistic and humanistic subjects. They will take interest in only the activities which are according to their gender roles and not try to improve themselves.
• If the teacher will not try to remove these gender biases, then the students will never be able to overcome them.
• It is the responsibility of a teacher, school, family, and community to remove these gender roles and biases in order to give equal opportunities to both genders.

So, it is concluded that gender discrimination in a classroom may lead to destroying the effort or the performance of a student.
