Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFCreativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves as well as others. In other words, it can be said that creativity is the strength or capacity to inflict and create any new object.
Key Points
According to the level theory enunciated by I.A.Taylor (1975), creativity may be described as existing at five levels in an ascending hierarchy. A person is said to be creative to the extent that he can reach these levels. The five levels are the following:
- Expressive creativity: This stands for spontaneous expression without reference to originality and quality of the product.
- Productive creativity: At this level, a person can produce something innovative.
- Inventive creativity: This level is marked by the presence of ingenuity with a clear emphasis on a novel use of old things.
- Innovative creativity: At this level, one can develop new ideas or principles with the help of highly developed abstract conceptualizing skills.
- Emerge native creativity: This fifth and highest level of creativity is rarely achieved. The most abstract ideational principles or assumptions underlying a body of art or science are made use of at this level of creation.
From the above, we can conclude that innovative creativity is the fourth level of Taylor's level theory of creativity.
