Question
Download Solution PDFThe sum of area of a rectangle 42m wide and a circle with a radius of 21m is 4116. Find the length of a rectangle.
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Width of the rectangle (w) = 42m
Radius of the circle (r) = 21m
Sum of area of rectangle and circle = 4116 m2
Concept Used:
Area of a rectangle = length × width
Area of a circle = πr2
Calculation:
Area of the circle = 3.1416 × (21)2 = 1385.4424 m2
From given,
Sum of area of rectangle and circle = Area of rectangle + Area of circle
⇒ 4116 = Area of rectangle + 1385.4424
⇒ Area of rectangle = 4116 - 1385.4424 = 2730.5576 m2
Area of rectangle = length × width
⇒ Length = Area of rectangle/Width
⇒ Length = 2730.5576/42 = 65 m
∴The length of the rectangle is 65 m.
