Comprehension

The bar graph given below shows percentage of people (male +female) not attended the seminar out of the total people in the city and percentage of male attended the seminar out of the total people attended the seminar from four different (A, B, C and D) cities.

Note: Total people in a city = People (male + female) attending the seminar + people (male + females) not attending the seminar. People attending/not attending the seminar = males + females

The given table shows the ratio of male and female who did not attending the seminar.

City

Ratio of male and female who did not attend the seminar

A

3:2

B

5:3

C

5:4

D

6:5

Difference between the number of females who attend seminar and number of females who not attend the seminar from C is 74. Sum of people attend the seminar is (x + 25) and sum of male attend the seminar is (y +20). Find which of the following is true?

  1. x + 5y = 325
  2. x + 7y =540
  3. x + y = 250
  4. x - 3y = 57
  5. x + 2y =300

Calculation:

Let number of people lived in city C is 100c.

Number of people not attending seminar from C is 100c × 45 /100 = 45c

Number of people attending seminar from C is 100c – 45c = 55c

Number of males attending seminar from C is 55c × 30 /100 =16.5c

Number of females attending seminar from C is 55c – 16.5 = 38.5c

Number of male who not attending seminar from C is 45c × 5 / 9 =25c

Number of females who not attending seminar from C is 45c – 25c = 20c

So, ATQ,  38.5c – 20c = 74

Or, 18.5c = 74, c = 4

So, x + 25 = 55 × 4 = 220

Or, x = 220 – 25 = 195

So, y + 20 = 16.5 × 4 =  66

Or, y = 46

So, x – 3y = 57
