Download Solution PDFItem contains a Question followed by two Statements. Answer each item using the following instructions :
A chord PQ of the circle C divides it into two segments such that 3 times the area of the major segment is 4 times the area of the minor segment.
Question: What is the radius of C ?
Statement I: Area of the minor segment is 66 square cm.
Statement II: Area of the major segment is 88 square cm.
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFFormula Used:
Area of Circle = πr2
Calculation:
According to the question,
4 × (Area of minor segment) = 3 × (Area of major segment)
⇒ (Area of minor segment)/(Area of major segment) = 3/4
Thus, if the area of the minor segment is given, we can find the area of the major segment and vice versa.
Area of Circle = Area of minor segment + Area of major segment
As we know, Area of Circle = πr2
Thus, we can find the radius of the circle if the area of the minor segment or the area of the major segment is given.
∴ Option 02 is the correct answer.
