Ethernet is a type of computer networking technology that is commonly used for transmitting data through cable in local area networks (LANs).

Ethernet is a form of communication protocol used to connect various numbers of computers with each other to transmit data.
it is invented by Robert Metcalfe.
An Ethernet is also known as Alto Aloha Network and it is a commonly used LAN and WAN protocol.
It is wired connections are used for faster maximum data transfer rates and are more secure & less susceptible to interference than wireless networks.

Different types of ethernet are following:

Types of ethernet	Features
Fast Ethernet	supported by a twisted pair or CAT5 cable. transfer or receive data at around100 Mbps optic fiber cable and twisted pair cable are used
Gigabit Ethernet	uses optic fiber cable and twisted pair cable transfer data at a rate of 1000 Mbps or 1Gbps uses CAT5e or other advanced cables
10-Gigabit Ethernet	transmit data at a rate of 10 Gigabit/second CAT6a or CAT7 twisted-pair cables and fiber optic cables expended up to nearly 10,000 meters with the help of using an optical fiber cable.
Switch Ethernet	type of network involves adding switches or hubs the network can have its own dedicated 10 Mbps connection instead of sharing the medium it supports 1000Mbps to 10 Gbps and 10Mbps to 100Mbps for fast Ethernet it is the latest ethernet one.
