Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Ratio of salaries of Ram, Balaram, and Shyam = 3 : 6 : 5
Percentage increase in salaries:
Ram = 33⅓%, Balaram = 16⅔%, Shyam = 20%
Concept Used:
If the ratio of quantities is a : b : c, then the quantities can be assumed as k × a, k × b, and k × c, where k is a constant.
Increased salary = Original salary × (1 + Percentage increase/100)
33⅓% = 1/3
16⅔% = 1/6
20% = 1/5
Calculation:
Let the initial salaries of Ram, Balaram, and Shyam be 3k, 6k, and 5k respectively.
Increased salary of Ram = 3k × (1 + 1/3) = 3k × 4/3 = 4k
Increased salary of Balaram = 6k × (1 + 1/6) = 6k × 7/6 = 7k
Increased salary of Shyam = 5k × (1 + 1/5) = 5k × 6/5 = 6k
The ratio of their increased salaries = 4k : 7k : 6k
Dividing each term by k, we get the ratio = 4 : 7 : 6
∴ The ratio of their increased salaries is 4 : 7 : 6.
