Series capacitor compensation:

  • ​The voltage control can be done by changing the reactance of the transmission line.
  • Due to the series capacitor, the total reactance of the line will be reduced as a result maximum power transfer capability increases.

Where Xc = reactance of series capacitor, X = reactance of the line.

After compensation, the new maximum power transferred is given by
