Concept :
The burden of protective relay
- In a current transformer (CT), there is a lesser turn on the primary side than on the secondary.
- Bar primary is a term given to CT having a single(1) primary turn.
- This is done to lower the current in the secondary for ease of current measurement by CT.
- There should always be a resistive element in the secondary so that the secondary never be open circuited with the current becoming almost zero and voltage becoming very high which can damage the insulation
