Let us observe some important differences between JFET and MOSFET

JFET	MOSFET
JFET is junction field effect transistor	MOSFET is metal oxide field effect transistor
it has 3 terminals namely source,drain ,gate	it has 4 terminals source ,drain ,gate ,substarte or body
it is operated only in depletion mode	it is operated in depletion as well as enhancement mode
the input impedance is lower compared to MOSFET	the input impedance is higher compared to JFET
the drain resistance of JFET is greater than that of MOSFET	the drain resistance of MOSFET is smaller than that of JFET
JFET are easier to fabricate	MOSFET have complex fabrication process

We have,

g_m(NMOS) ≈ g_m(PMOS) ; i.e the taransconductance of nmos and pmos have similar values .
