  • Rampa is the region in the north of Godavari, witnessed various uprising during the nineteenth century.
  • In 1916, it saw a revolt which introduced several guerrilla warfares in the region between August 1922 to May 1924.
  • They were against the money lenders and forest laws.
  • The immediate spark came when a tahsildar was trying to construct a forest road with unpaid labour.
  • Alluri Sitarama Raju was inspired by the Non-cooperation movement and admire Gandhi but he considered violence necessary to win the tribal goals.
  • He was captured and killed in May 1924.
