The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has entrusted the National Testing Agency to conduct the Joint CSIR-UGC NET examination twice a year in June and December. The CSIR UGC NET is conducted to test the eligibility of the Indian candidates for the positions of CSIR NET Lectureship (LS) / Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship. Candidates who wish to take up these roles in the following subjects must appear for the CSIR NET examination- Chemical Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Life Science and Mathematical Science. What Is The CSIR NET Lectureship Exam?

Along with the CSIR NET JRF position, the CSIR UGC NET examination also determines the eligibility for the Lectureship or Assistant Professor position in premier Indian institutions in the field of Science and Technology. The CSIR NET Assistant Professors are given a handsome salary, which also varies with their experience. Candidates passionate about teaching and with the CSIR UGC NET Lectureship eligibility must take this examination. 

CSIR NET Eligibility For Lectureship

Candidates who wish to opt for the CSIR NET LS(Lectureship) position must satisfy both the educational and age limit for CSIR NET LS Eligibility. If a candidate applies for JRF and fulfils the CSIR UGC NET Lectureship eligibility criteria, such a candidate will be considered for both JRF & LS/Assistant Professor. Let us look at the CSIR NET LS eligibility criteria now-

CSIR NET Lectureship Educational Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B. Tech/ B. Pharma/ MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Third gender and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are eligible.
  • Candidates enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of the Application Form are eligible to apply for CSIR NET Lectureship under the Result Awaited (RA) category, terms and conditions applied.
  • B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Third gender, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are eligible to apply. 
  • Candidates with Bachelorโ€™s degrees will be eligible for a CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D./Integrated PhD program within the validity period of two years.
  • Candidates possessing only Bachelorโ€™s degree are not eligible to apply only for CSIR NET Lectureship.
  • B.E./ B.S./ B.Tech./ B.Pharma/ MBBS final year/result awaited candidates are not eligible for CSIR NET Assistant Professor/ Lectureship. 
  • Candidates with M.Sc. qualification OR under M.Sc. Result Awaited (RA) category are eligible for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by the UGC.
  • PhD holders who have passed a Masterโ€™s degree before 19th September 1991, with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/Assistant Professor only.

Age Limit For CSIR NET Lectureship

  • There is no upper age limit for the CSIR NET LS(Lectureship) position.
  • However, if any candidate is over age for JRF (NET), he/ she will be automatically considered for Lectureship/Assistant Professor (NET) only.

CSIR NET Lectureship Salary

CSIR NET Lectureship Apply Online

Candidates must follow these four steps to apply for the CSIR NET LS/ Assistant Professor position. There is no separate CSIR NET Application form for LS and JRF positions. 

  • Online registration with personal details
  • Filling up the application form with the necessary information like educational qualification, contact details etc., including โ€œExam and Centre Detailsโ€, where candidates can opt for the position of their choice, i.e. CSIR NET Lectureship.
  • Uploading the relevant copies of scanned images and documents, as applicable.
  • Payment of the application fee

CSIR NET Lectureship Result

The National Testing Agency announces the CSIR NET result for both Lectureship and JRF on its website. Candidates can log in with their credentials and download their respective CSIR NET Score card. It will be mentioned in the score card whether the candidate has qualified for CSIR NET Lectureship or both CSIR NET JRF and Lectureship positions. Candidates can also download the complete merit list, which is segregated post-wise from the CSIR HRDG website. 

CSIR NET Lectureship Qualifying Marks

Candidates opting for the CSIR NET LS position have to achieve the minimum qualifying marks at least to be eligible for the post. The minimum marks for the General, EWS and OBC candidates are 33%, whereas, for the SC, ST and PWD candidates, it is 25%.

CSIR NET Lectureship Selection Procedure

Following are the steps in the selection process of the CSIR NET LS candidates-

  • Registering for the CSIR NET examination
  • Participating in the Computer Based Test examination
  • Declaration of the final result and score card
  • Release of the cut off and merit list for qualified candidates
  • Interview of the selected candidates
  • Selection of the candidates in CSIR NET Lectureship positions

CSIR NET Lectureship Admit Card

Only those candidates will receive the CSIR NET admit card who have completed all the steps of the application process, including payment of the application fees. Candidates cannot enter the examination hall without a valid admit card. Details like exam venue, exam starting and end time, reporting time etc., will be mentioned in the admit card. Candidates must read all the instructions on the admit card before the final examination, strictly adhere to them, and avoid carrying any prohibited materials to the examination hall. Candidates are advised to reach the exam venue 30 mins before the reporting time for a smooth registration process.

CSIR NET Lectureship Certificate

The CSIR NET LS certificate will be awarded to those candidates who qualify for the CSIR NET LS position. The certificate will be issued by the National Testing Agency on its official website. Candidates can download it from there. 

CSIR NET LS Validity

The CSIR NET LS certificate is valid for a lifetime. Candidates, once qualified, can use it for their entire lifetime unless and until it is declared invalid by the competent authority.
