The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the IBPS Clerk exam to recruit candidates for the post of clerk in banks. The organizing body has released the official notification for IBPS Clerk recruitment 2025. The candidates who wish to apply for the recruitment must fulfill the eligibility criteria drawn by IBPS. The selection process for IBPS Clerk is divided into three stages, i.e., prelims exam, mains exam, and document verification.

IBPS Clerk Selection Process

The recruitment notification for IBPS Clerk is published every year. The candidates appearing for the exam must read the notification and follow the information provided. Discussed below are a few points to note about the notification for the IBPS Clerk selection process:

  • Prelims exam: For the posts of Clerk, the examination will be two tier i.e. the Online Examination will be held in two phases, Preliminary and Main. candidates who will qualify in Preliminary Examination and shortlisted will have to appear for the Main Examination.
  • Mains written exam: For the post of Clerk, candidates who will qualify in Preliminary Examination and be shortlisted will have to appear for Main Examination. They will be provisionally allotted on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the Main Examination and the actual vacancies reported by IBPS.

IBPS Clerk Selection Process: Preliminary Examination

The preliminary examination is the first stage of the IBPS Clerk selection process. It is an objective-type paper that is conducted in online mode. The prelims paper is divided into three sections - English language, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning ability. There are 100 questions in total carrying 1 mark each. Each wrong answer leads to a deduction of 0.25 marks. The details of the exam pattern of the preliminary exam are discussed in the table below:

IBPS Clerk Selection Process: Mains Examination

The candidates who have qualified for the preliminary exam are eligible for the main exam of IBPS Clerk 2025. The mains exam is divided into four sections - general awareness, English language, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning ability. The exam is conducted for 160 minutes. The IBPS Clerk mains exam 2025 will comprise multiple-choice questions of a total of 200 marks. Each wrong answer will lead to a deduction of one-fourth of the marks assigned to each question. The details of the main exam pattern for the IBPS Clerk selection process is discussed in the table below:

IBPS Clerk Selection Process: Document Verification

Document verification is the final stage of the IBPS Clerk selection process. The candidates are called to join the banks that they have been allotted to for training after the documents have been verified. All the data submitted while filling up the application form is verified in this stage. Given below is a list of important documents that the candidates must carry for this stage:

  • Photo Identity Proof
  • Date of Birth Proof
  • Graduation/ Post Graduation certificate
  • Mark sheet
  • Certificate of professional experience (if any)
  • NOC from HoD for candidates working in any Government Department or Public Sector Undertaking
  • Experience certificate
  • Caste certificate
