Concept:

Centrifugal force:

Centrifugal force is the force that acts on an object moving along a curved path and this force acts in a direction away from the center of rotation. The centrifugal force acting on an object tracing a circular path is given as:

\(F_c = \frac{mV^2}{r}\)

where m is the mass of the object, V is the velocity of the object and r is the radius of the circular path.

F1 J.K 2.6.20 Pallavi D1

Calculation:

Given:

m = 5 kg, ω = 10 rad/s, r = 0.1 m.

\(F_c = \frac{mV^2}{r}\)

V = rω

∴ Fc = mrω2 = 5 ×  0.1 × 102 = 50 N

∴ The centrifugal force acting on the body is 50 N
