Mathematically, heat required, Q = mcΔT,
where m = mass, c = specific heat capacity, ΔT = temperature difference
It can be measured in Jg-1K^-1.

Calculation:

Given: mass, m = 500 g, Temperature difference, ΔT = 80ºC,Heat, Q = 10 kJ

Specific heat capacity, \(c=\frac{Q}{mΔ T}\)

\(c=\frac{10\times 10^3}{500\times 80}=0.25 ~Jg^{-1}K^{-1}\)

Hence, the specific heat capacity is 0.25 Jg-1K-1
