दिया है: बहुभुज एक अष्टभुज है ⇒ दिए गए बहुभुज के विकर्णों की संख्या n = 8.

जैसा की हम जानते हैं कि एक बहुभुज के कोणीय बिन्दुओं को जोड़कर बनाये जाने वाले विकर्णों की संख्या इस प्रकार है\({\;^n}{C_2} - n = \frac{{n \times \left( {n - 3} \right)}}{2}\)
