Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven
6 men complete a work in 4 days
3 women complete the same work in 7 days
Concept:
Work done is inversely proportional to time.
Calculation:
⇒ 6 men's 1-day work = 1/4
⇒ 1 man's 1 day work = 1/(4 × 6) = 1/24
⇒ 3 women's 1-day work = 1/7
⇒ 1 woman's 1 day work = 1/(7 × 3) = 1/21
If 8 men and 3 women work together, their 1 day's work = 8 × (1/24) + 3 × (1/21) = 10/21
⇒ Time taken to complete the work = 1/(10/21) = 21/10 days
Therefore, the time taken to complete the same work by 8 men and 3 women is 21/10 days.
