Concept

The charging current per phase of a three-core underground cable is given by:

\(I_c={V_{ph}\over X_c}=V_{ph}ω C\)

where, Ic = Charging current

Vph = Phase Voltage

ω = 2πf = Frequency

C = Per phase capacitance
