Question
Download Solution PDFIn a circular race of 625 m, A and B start from the same point, at the same time and at speeds of 90 km/h and 72 km/h, respectively. After how much time will they meet again for the first time on the track if they are running in the same directions?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Track length = 625 m
Speeds of A and B = 90 km/h and 72 km/h respectively
Concept:
Time taken for two moving bodies to meet is the total distance divided by the relative speed.
Calculation:
⇒ Converting speeds to m/s, speed of A = 901000/3600 = 25 m/s, speed of B = 721000/3600 = 20 m/s
⇒ Relative speed (since they are moving in the same direction) = Speed of A - Speed of B = 25 - 20 = 5 m/s
⇒ Time for them to meet = Track length / Relative speed = 625/5 = 125 seconds
Therefore, they will meet again for the first time on the track after 125 seconds.
