Question
Download Solution PDFRavi travels by taxi for Rs 15 per km and by rented car for Rs 5 per km. He travels 80km in a week for Rs. 500. Find the distance traveled by taxi.
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The travel price of a taxi = 15 Rs/km
The travel price of car = 5 Rs/km
Total distance traveled = 80 km
Total amount spend = Rs. 500
Formula used:
Total amount spent = Distance × price per km.
Calculation:
Let the distance traveled by taxi be D,
So, D × 15 + (80 - D) × 5 = 500
⇒ 15D + 400 - 5D = 500
⇒ 15D - 5D = 500 - 400
⇒ 10D = 100
⇒ D = 100/10 = 10
Hence, the distance traveled by taxi is 10 km.
