Question
Download Solution PDFA wire of square shape with an area of 676 cm2 is bent in the form of a circle. Find the diameter of the circle (in cm).
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Area of the square wire = 676 cm2
Concept Used:
The length of the wire remains same even when the shape is changed.
Area of a square = side2
Circumference of a circle = 2πr
Diameter of a circle = 2r
Where,
r = Radius, d = Diameter
Calculation:
Side of square = √676 cm2= 26 cm
Here, Length of wire = Perimeter of the square
⇒ 4 × Side = 4 × 26 = 104 cm
This length becomes the circumference of the circle,
So, 104 cm = 2πr
⇒ r = 104/(2 × π) = 16.54 cm
⇒ d = 2r = 2 × 16.54 = \(33\frac{1}{11}\) cm
∴ The diameter of the circle is approximately \(33\frac{1}{11}\) cm.
