Question
Download Solution PDFThe lengths (in cm) of three sides of a triangle are, respectively, 48, 55 and 73. What is the length (in cm) of the median joining the mid-point of the longest side to its opposite vertex?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The lengths (in cm) of three sides of a triangle are, respectively, 48, 55 and 73.
Concept used:
Median of a right angle triangle = H/2
Here,
H = hypotenuse
Calculation:
482 + 552
⇒ 2304 + 3025
⇒ 5329
⇒ 732
So, the triangle is a right-angle triangle
So, median = h/2 = 73/2
⇒ 36.5
∴ The required answer is 36.5 cm.
