Download Solution PDFThe ratio of the cost price to the marked price of a table is 3 ∶ 4. The shopkeeper gives two equal successive discounts of 25% on the marked price and sells the table for Rs. 2,250. Find the loss during this transaction.
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven
Cost Price (CP) to Marked Price (MP) ratio = 3 : 4
Final Selling Price (SP) = Rs. 2,250
Two successive discounts of 25% each
Formula:
Successive discounts calculation
Loss = CP - SP
Solution:
⇒ If MP is 4, then CP = 3 (from the ratio).
If SP after two discounts is 2,250,
then MP = 2,250 / [(1-25/100)²] = Rs. 4000.
⇒ CP = (3/4) × 4000 = Rs. 3000.
⇒ Loss = CP - SP = 3000 - 2250 = Rs. 750
Therefore, the shopkeeper incurs a loss of Rs. 750 in this transaction.
