The State Bank of India has announced the SBI Clerk Selection Process 2024 with the SBI Clerk Recruitment notification on its official website. The SBI Clerk Selection Process is very important information that every candidate must check before applying for the SBI Clerk exam. SBI Clerk Selection Process mainly consists of three stages: Preliminary exam, Mains Exam, and local language test. 

• The Prelims Exam will be just qualifying in nature. The candidates who will not be able to provide the evidence that they studied the opted local language till their Class 10th or 12th will have to appear for the language test as well.

SBI Clerk Selection Process 2024

The SBI Clerk Selection Process will be done over three phases, Prelims, Mains, and Local Language test, if applicable. The SBI Clerk Exam Selection process includes the following steps:

• Prelims Exam: The Preliminary examination is the first phase of the SBI Bank Clerk selection process in which there will be three sections for 100 marks. The time duration given will be an hour but note that there will be equal sectional timing.
• Mains Exam: The second stage of the SBI Bank Clerk selection process is the Mains Exam 2024. The Mains examination will have 4 sections for 200 marks, the time duration given will be 2 hrs 40 minutes.
• Language test: The last phase will be the local language test. This test will be applicable only to those who fail to produce evidence/ proof that they have studied the opted-specific local language until their 10th/12th standard. All those candidates who will be able to prove this do not need to appear in the language test.

SBI Clerk Selection Process: Preliminary Examination

Candidates need to step into the first stage of the SBI Clerk Selection Process i..e, the Preliminary exam which consists of objective-type questions, conducted online. Aspirants have to score both the sectional and overall cutoff to ace the Prelims stage. Although this stage is conducted for 100 marks, divided across three sections i.e., English language, Reasoning ability, and numerical ability, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong attempt. 

SBI Clerk Selection Process: Mains Examination

The SBI Bank Clerk Selection Process- Main exam will consist of an online objective test consisting of 200 questions. Each section will be allocated a time duration if the time gets over then you will be automatically directed to the next section. There is no sectional Cut Off for the SBI Clerk Mains.

SBI Clerk Selection Process: Local Language Test

The third phase of the SBI Clerk Selection Process is the Local language test. This test is conducted to ensure that there is the ease in communication between the candidates shortlisted and the customers of the bank. The details about the same have been given below:

• The candidates need to produce their 10th or 12th Certificate, to show that they have studied the opted local language in their higher secondary and do not need to appear for the Language Test.
• Candidates who do not have any proof or certificate will have to appear for an opted local language test
• This language test will take place prior to the joining procedure.
• This opted local language test takes place in order to check the proficiency of candidates in speaking, reading, and writing.
• Candidates who fail this test will be disqualified from the recruitment process.

What Next After the Completion of the SBI Clerk Selection Process?

Once the SBI Clerk Selection Process has been completed, the candidates who are able to get through all the rounds successfully will be recruited as clerks in the State Bank of India. The candidates can check the further rounds which have been given in detail below:

Selection Process of SBI Clerk - Provisional

After all the phases are successfully conducted, SBI will release a provisional merit list. The merit list shall be released state and category-wise. SBI will do the posting for the candidates according to the city/state preference the candidates have given in the application form. Once the joining selection process of SBI Clerk is completed, the candidates cannot transfer for the next 5 years.

Selection Process of SBI Clerk Waiting List

SBI will also release a waiting list which will be up to 50% state, vacancies, and category-wise. Candidates who want to be on the waiting list need to secure the least qualifying marks. This waitlist issued will be valid for a span of one year from the date of declaration of the Final result of SBI Clerk 2024.

Selection Process of SBI Clerk Probation Period

Candidates who get selected in the selection process for SBI Clerk will have to serve a probation period of 6 months. In the duration of 6 months, the clerks/junior associates need to finish 15 authorized e-lessons.

• For candidates who fail to complete those 15 e-lessons for getting joining confirmation in SBI, or else the probation period will get extended.
• Before the probation period ends, the performance of all the newly hired Clerks/Junior associates will be assessed according to the SBI Clerk Junior Associate Selection Process.
• In case, the newly recruited individuals fail to come up to the expectations of the SBI, again the probation period will be stretched.
