Car travels from A to B at 44 km/hr

Car travels from B to A at 66 km/hr

Concept:

\({Average\ speed}={Total\ Distance\over Total\ Time}\)

Formula used:

\({Speed}={Distance\over Time}\)

Calculation:

Let the total distance between A and B be D km.

Time taken by Car from A to B = \({D\over 44}\)

Time taken by Car from B to A = \({D\over 66}\)

The total time taken by car to complete the round = \({D\over 44}+{D\over 66}\)

The total distance A to B and B to A = 2D

The average speed = \({2D\over {{D\over 44}+{D\over 66}}}\) = \({2\over {{1\over 44}+{1\over66}}}\)

⇒ \({2\over {0.0222727}+{0.015152}} ={2\over0.037879} = 52.80\ km/hr\)

∴ The required result will be 52.78 km/hr.
