Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Suresh can type 40 pages in 5 hours
Anil can type 32 pages in 6 hours
Concept Used:
Total Work = Efficiency × Time Required
Calculations:
Let the total work be of 160 pages (LCM of 40 and 32)
To type 160 pages
Time required by Suresh = 5 × 4 = 20 hours
Time required by Anil = 6 × 5 = 30 hours
⇒ Efficiency of Suresh = 160/20 = 8 pages/hr
⇒ Efficiency of Anil = 160/30 = (16/3) pages/hr
Combines efficiency = 8 + (16/3) = (40/3) pages/hr
Time required by Suresh and Anil to type 110 pages
⇒ 110/(40/3) = 33/4 = 8\(\frac{1}{4}\) hours = 8 hours 15 minutes
