Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
12 years ago, Sudhir and Ashish = 1 : 2
Current age of Sudhir and Ashish = 5: 7
Concept used:
We will be using the concept of ratio.
Calculation:
Let the ages of Sudhir and Ashish 12 years ago = 1x and 2x respectively,
According to the question,
(1x + 12) / (2x + 12) = 5/7
⇒ 7x + 84 = 10x + 60
⇒ 3x = 24
⇒ x = 8
∴ Present age of Sudhir = 8 + 12 = 20 year
The age of Sudhir after five years from now = 20 + 5 = 25
The age of Sudhir after five years from now is 25 years.
Shortcut Trick
We will first equate the age gap, since it remains constant.
The age of Sudhir after five years from now = 20 + 5 = 25
