Concept:

The torque transmitted by a circular shaft is proportional to the cube of its diameter, given by the formula:

\( T = \frac{\pi}{16} \cdot τ \cdot d^3 \)

Given:

  • Shafts A and B are of same material → Same shear stress \(\tau\)
  • Diameter of A is 3 times tha​t of B → dA = 3dB
