Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
A takes twice as much time as B and thrice as much time as C to finalise a task.
Working together, they can complete the task in 8 days.
Concept used:
If three workers can complete a task in P, Q, and R days respectively, then working together they can complete the work in = \(\frac {pqr}{pq + qr + pr}\) days
Calculation:
Let's suppose, A, B, and C take 6q, 3q, and 2q days respectively.
According to the concept,
\(\frac {6q × 3q × 2q}{18q^2 + 6q^2 + 12q^2}\) = 8
⇒ \(\frac {36q^3}{36q^2}\) = 8
⇒ q = 8
So, A finalises the work in = 6 × 8 = 48 days
So, B finalises the work in = 3 × 8 = 24 days
So, C finalises the work in = 2 × 8 = 16 days
∴ The time taken by A, B, and C, respectively, to complete the task is 48 days, 24 days, and 16 days.
