Question
Download Solution PDFDeepak alone can do a work in 24 hours. Deepak and Rohit together can do the same work in 20 hours. Rohit and Tarun together can do the same work in 16 hours. In how many hours can Tarun alone do the same work?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Deepak (D) alone = 24 hours
Deepak + Rohit (D + R) = 20 hours
Rohit + Tarun (R + T) = 16 hours
Formula used:
Assume total work = LCM of 24, 20, and 16 = 240 units
Calculation:
Work/hour by Deepak = 240 / 24 = 10 units
Work/hour by D + R = 240 / 20 = 12 units
⇒ Work/hour by Rohit = 12 - 10 = 2 units
Work/hour by R + T = 240 / 16 = 15 units
⇒ Work/hour by Tarun = 15 - 2 = 13 units
⇒ Time taken by Tarun = 240 / 13 hours
∴ Tarun alone can do the work in 240 / 13 hours.
