Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) is a Pune based organization that conducted a study in which it used 15% methanol M-15 and blended it with petrol and used it in BS-IV standard vehicles.
These vehicles were then tested for 3,000 km.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the emissions from the vehicles in real-world conditions and to check their performance.
It was found that the emission of carbon dioxide had reduced considerably and that there was also a marginal reduction in hydrocarbon emission.
